A 61-year-old woman is set to face court next month after a swift police response led to her arrest for burglary and fraud in Harrogate.
North Yorkshire Police launched an immediate response on the afternoon of Sunday, 31 May 2026, after receiving reports of a break-in at the home of a local resident in her 70s. The suspect allegedly entered the property, stole the elderly victim’s purse, and used her stolen debit card shortly afterward to make unauthorized purchases across several Harrogate shops.

Using localized intelligence, officers tracked the suspect to a location just a short distance from the victim’s address. The 61-year-old woman was taken into custody and has since been formally charged with both burglary and fraud offences.
