Agreement strengthens delivery capability for next phase of smart meter rollout and lays foundation for broader long-term collaboration
Harrogate, UK — 3rd June 2026 — Chameleon Technology today announces that, following a comprehensive tender process, it has been selected as a strategic technology partner by Centrica. The agreement focuses on the provision of in-home display (IHD) devices as part of the UK government’s ongoing smart meter rollout programme.
Under the terms of the agreement, Chameleon will supply its advanced IHD devices, providing critical additional delivery capacity to support Centrica’s rollout commitments and further strengthen its operational resilience.
Chameleon brings extensive experience deploying smart energy devices at scale across the UK energy retail market. Currently, more than 20 million people—representing over a third of households in Great Britain—have access to a Chameleon in-home display.
This technology allows users to view real-time energy usage information directly from their smart meters, helping customers better understand consumption patterns, manage energy use more effectively, and make more informed decisions about their energy spending.
