The latest instalment of the ever-popular Salon series – dubbed the ‘night out for your brain’ – includes not one, but two award-winning guests at The Crown Hotel, Harrogate, on Thursday 4 June.
Dr Lucy Rogers is a renowned engineer, inventor and science communicator with an unparalleled ability to make the marvels of the universe accessible and inspiring.
Lucy has inspired audiences around the world with her engaging approach to engineering. She will take the audience on a fast-paced journey through the hidden science of the sky – bridging awe, wonder and surprise.
Joining her at Raworths Salon North is Dr Kate Lister, an irreverent and witty historian, author, columnist and broadcaster specialising in the history of sexuality and gender, and host of the hugely successful Betwixt the Sheets podcast.
Kate will lift the lid on the eye-opening world of history’s most infamous royal mistresses over the centuries, women whose lives were often shrouded in scandal and intrigue. Their stories reveal not just the personal tales of love and betrayal, but also the shifting dynamics of power and politics. Beyond the sex, glamour and the jewels, these women often shaped royal policies and societal norms, all from behind the shadows of the throne.
Completing the all-female line-up is leading barrister Monica Feria-Tinta, an expert in international law. Monica has been described as one of “the most daring, innovative and creative lawyers” in the UK. With a reputation as a barrister for the earth, she will show how the law can defend nature and protect the environment, highlighting real-life cases where justice for the environment has been sought in court.
The event will be hosted by popular TV producer and presenter Natasha Knight.
Raworths Salon North brings the world’s most fascinating ideas in arts, science, and psychology to an intimate cabaret style setting in the heart of Harrogate.
