Climate change surveys for the Harrogate District – they would like your views

9 February 2021

Members of the Harrogate District Climate Change Coalition have recently worked alongside colleagues at Harrogate Borough Council to design two climate change surveys.

Questions have been carefully designed with the aim of gathering an up to date impression of local people’s perspectives on climate change so that future work is informed by up to date perspectives.

Both surveys are aimed at people living or working in all corners of Harrogate District.

One survey is aimed at local business owners and their employees in Harrogate District. The other is designed for local residents.  Of course, this means that many people will be eligible to complete both surveys!

The Coalition was set up by Harrogate Borough Council in 2019, with board members from local firms, the public sector and voluntary organisations. All the board members offer their time and expertise voluntarily to support the work of the coalition, whose role is to work in partnership to support decarbonisation and climate resilience throughout Harrogate District.  Information about the coalition is available from their new website at

Kirsty Hallett, comms lead for HDCCC, said:

We hope many people are willing to take a few minutes to complete the surveys because the results will be used to help us to develop our communications strategy and output. Some of the questions are worded in exactly the same way as a previous survey some years ago, and we hope that if there has been a major change in local attitudes we will be able to find that out.  That will help us to plan to provide relevant information to other members of the public in future.

Both surveys are available from the Harrogate Borough Council Have Your Say website.
