Harrogate courier company on road to further growth in 2019

Harrogate courier company is heading down the road to further growth following a record breaking 12 months.

This year will see Dave Kirby Couriers (2018) Ltd, which is based in Bishop Thornton on the edge of the spa town, increasing its vehicle fleet and boosting its back-office function on the strength of last year’s trading.

The firm launched in 2015 with one man and a van, now has a fleet of 17 vehicles and employs a workforce of 14.

It now operates all over the UK and Europe, and regionally works for auction houses, stately homes, sweet manufacturers, drinks wholesalers and events companies – as well as for domestic customers including Premier League footballers and Ftse 100 company chief executives.

Last month it launched its “DeliverToYou” service, which is consigning “sorry you were out cards” to the history books for households with a HG postcode by delivering parcels to households only when the recipients are in, not out!

 

Financial Director, Andrew Dennis, said:

2018 has been a phenomenal year for us and we are predicting 2019 will be just as good, if not better.

Our sales last year grew by 15 per cent and, to cope with this rise in demand for our services, we have taken on more drivers and purchased more vehicles.

Our 17 vehicles will soon become 19 and we are currently in the process of applying for an HGH operator’s licence. This will allow us to compete with larger courier and logistics companies.

Last year saw us install a state-of-the-art tracking system on all our vehicles as well as investing in our back-office function IT.

Unlike some we are looking forward to the challenges that this year will no doubt bring. Over the last four years we have grown organically and are predicting it will be the same this year.

More and more business and domestic customers are using us because we offer a service they want at a price that is ‘Yorkshire’ and not ‘London’. For us we put the customer first and this is paying dividends.
