Record number of solicitor recommendations for McCormicks

11 October 2017

Leading Harrogate law firm McCormicks Solicitors has achieved a new record for individual recommendations for solicitors in the newly-published UK Legal 500, one of the leading guides to the legal profession.

The firm has won 50 individual recommendations, with Senior Partner Peter McCormick ranked both in the elite “Leading Lawyers” list – the Legal 500’s guide to outstanding lawyers nationwide – and as a Leading Individual in Sport in both London and the Yorkshire and Humber; whilst Head of Commercial Litigation, Partner Philip Edmondson, is listed as a “Next Generation” lawyer in Sport.

The individual recommendations cover 13 lawyers at the firm across 18 different disciplines, for all of which the firm as a whole is ranked.

McCormicks is recommended in the London section of the guide for its work in Professional Discipline, Sport and for Mediators.

It has again led the way for Harrogate and North Yorkshire-based practices, with recommendations in 18 areas of law, and is the only Harrogate firm ranked in seven of those areas, namely EU and Competition, Crime (Fraud), Crime (General), Contentious Trusts and Probate, Sport, Dispute Resolution and Professional Discipline.

Peter McCormick said:

The UK Legal 500 carries out research both with clients and with our fellow professionals and it is a huge testament to the strength of our team to win so many individual recommendations.

The firm also wins recommendations for its work in Agriculture and Estates, where it is described as “an excellent firm that punches well above its weight”, Charities and Not-for-Profit, Corporate and Commercial, Family, Private Client, Commercial Property, Property Litigation, IT and Telecoms and Intellectual Property.

The practice retains its first-place ranking for Sport in Yorkshire and the Humber and is the only North Yorkshire firm to be ranked Sport and for EU and Competition.
