Motorcyclist dies in A59 collision

A motorcyclist has died as a result of a collision on the A59 near Skipton.

It happened at around 8.25am on Saturday 8 October 2016 when the motorbike he was riding was in collision with a wagon, approximately three miles out of Skipton towards Harrogate.

The rider, 21-year-old, Joshua Jake Duxbury, from Blackburn, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Joshua was on his way to open up the Hambleton Café – a café popular with motorcyclists – where he worked as a chef, when he died.

The road was closed to allow collision investigators to examine the scene, it reopened at around 1.15pm.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the motorbike or lorry in the moments leading up to the collision, is asked to call the police if they have not already done so.
