Masked robbery at Harrogate newsagents

Appeal for information following robbery at Cawthorn Newsagents, Harrogate.

Police are appealing for information about or witnesses to a robbery which took place at Cawthorn Newsagents on Cawthorn Avenue in Harrogate on Thursday 30 June 2016.

At 12.10pm a man wearing a makeshift balaclava and a black hooded jacket entered the newsagents. He proceeded to threaten the shop worker with a piece of wood wrapped in a white plastic bag and demand money from the till.

The shop worker handed over an amount of cash and the man left the shop and continued in the direction of Cawthorn Avenue. He then discarded the jacket and balaclava, crossed the road and continued onto Tyson Place.

The man is described as in his 20’s, approximately 6ft and of a thin build. Its thought he may be from the local area as he spoke with a local accent.

Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed anything or has any information which would assist the investigation to contact 101, select option 1 and speak to Force Control Room. Please quote reference 12160116128.
