Principal stylist Shane Singh has qualified as a Master Colour Expert making Dangerfield & Keane in Harrogate one of the only salons in Yorkshire to have three stylists who have completed the comprehensive eight month Wella training programme to achieve this advanced hair colour qualification.
Shane, who lives in Harrogate, originates from Trinidad and moved to the UK in 2003. He has had a varied career having been a tailor and working in the make up and cosmetics industry before training as a hairdresser in London. He has been a stylist at Dangerfield & Keane’s Coldbath Road salon for the last four years.
Shane was the only stylist from Harrogate to pass this time, achieving a 96% score and becoming one of only 150 people in the UK to be a Master Colour Expert. He joins colleagues, founder and director Gerri Keane and principal stylist Jenna Beckworth, who have already achieved the qualification.
Gerri Keane said:
The Wella training programme is one of the most testing in the industry and gives in depth understanding of the science of colouring hair, adding to the knowledge of even the most experienced colourist. Shane has done exceptionally well, achieving the highest score in his class and I’m sure his additional expertise will be appreciated by our clients.
Having completed the course myself earlier this year, I appreciate the extra skills it gives and we plan to put another two of our stylists through the training next year so that all of our senior team will be Wella Master Colour Experts.
Shane said:
It was an extremely thorough and intensive programme requiring a lot of hard work with both practical tests and written exams, covering everything from the chemistry of colour to extreme colour correction. In hairdressing, there’s always something new to learn and I’m looking forward to using this up-to-the-minute knowledge as I work with clients. ”
Established in March 2008, Dangerfield & Keane has grown from four staff to an 18-strong team over the last seven years as well as expanding its Coldbath Road premises.
