Witness appeal after serious Knaresborough collision

A man has been left with serious leg injuries following a collision near to the entrance of Mother Shipton’s Cavern in Knaresborough.

It occurred at around 3.10am on Saturday 23 August 2014, on Harrogate Road at High Bridge, near Mother Shipton’s Cavern and involved a blue Peugeot 207 car. No other vehicles were involved.

A 25-year-old Harrogate man was driving the vehicle and the only occupant. He uffered a serious, but not life threatening, leg injury and was taken to Leeds General Infirmary, where he currently remains.

Police have now issued an appeal for information.

Traffic Sergeant Julian Pearson, of the Force’s Roads Policing Group, said: I am aware that there has been some speculation on social media stating that this is a fatal collision. I can confirm that although the man did suffer a serious injury, he has not died.

If you witnessed the incident, or saw the car just prior to it, I ask that you come forward and contact the police straight away.
