Knaresborough man dies in collision

Police are appealing for information following a single vehicle fatal road traffic collision near to Knaresborough.

It occurred just before midnight on Sunday 18 May 2014, on the A6055, Ferrensby to Knaresborough road, close to the entrance of Knaresborough Golf Club.

The collision involved a blue Vauxhall Astra, travelling towards Knaresborough, which left the road before hitting a tree.

The 53-year-old man from Knaresborough, driving the car, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The man’s family have been informed of his death. However, we are not yet in a position to release his name.

Traffic Sergeant Pete Wood, of the Force’s Roads Policing Group, said: If you witnessed the collision or saw the Astra just prior to the incident, I urge you to contact the police straight away as you may have vital information which could help our enquiries.
