Hawes man jailed for inciting sexual activity with children

12 May 2014

A man has been jailed after admitting to inciting sexual activity with a child and possessing indecent images.
Julian Pike, aged 48, of Lowfield, Gayle, Hawes, pleaded guilty to two counts of inciting sexual activity with a child at Teesside Crown Court on 14 April 2014.

He also pleaded guilty to 13 counts of possessing indecent images of children
He reappeared before the court today (Monday 12 May 2014) where he was sentenced to four-years-and-three months’ imprisonment.
Pike was arrested in May 2013, after it was reported that he had made sexual advances to two girls who were aged 14 and 15 at the time of the offences in 2009 and 2011.
Following Pike’s arrest, officers searched his home and seized computers and hard drives which contained 54 indecent images of children.

Detective Constable Steve Alderson, of North Yorkshire Police, said: Julian Pike tried to take advantage of two underage girls and was also in possession of some very disturbing images of children.
I am pleased that the court have recognised the severity of his actions and have imposed an appropriate sentence.
I would like to thank the victims in this case for having the bravery to come forward, which allowed us to put Pike before the court. I hope they feel some sense that justice has been done and they can now move on with their lives.
