Elderly woman injured in Ripon collision

Police are appealing for information following a serious road collision in Ripon, which left an elderly woman in hospital.

It occurred at around 11.45am on Tuesday 10 December 2013, on North Street, outside the city’s police station.

The collision involved a pedal cycle, being ridden by a 68-year-old man from Ripon, and a woman pedestrian, aged 84, also from the city.

At the time of the incident the man was riding towards the Clock Tower and the woman was crossing the road from the opposite side to the police station.

As a result of the collision the woman suffered serious injuries and was taken to Harrogate District Hospital, where she remains in a comfortable condition. The rider of the bicycle was not injured.

Traffic Constable Rob Roberts, of the Force’s Roads Policing Group, said:

If you witnessed the collision, or saw either of the people involved just prior to the incident, I urge you to contact the police straight away, as you may have vital information that could assist my investigation.
