Cyclist seriously injured near Ripon

are currently at the scene of a serious road traffic on the B6265 near .

A 42-year-old man has been seriously injured after his bicycle collided with a silver Ford Mondeo on Road at Bridge Hewick, at around 7.30am this morning (Friday 20 September 2013).

The cyclist has been taken to General Infirmary by air ambulance.

The driver of the car was uninjured in the incident.

The road is closed in both directions while officers conduct their investigations into the cause of the collision.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 1 – and pass information to the Force Control Room.

The road is likely to remain closed for some time while investigations into the collision are carried out.
