An appeal has been launched to find the Harrogate District’s best musicians to take part in the centerpiece of the town’s festive celebrations.
It will be the second time the Christmas Market has taken place and several new elements are being introduced this year, including a dedicated Food and Drink Marquee, as well as space set aside for buskers.
We’re hoping to find Harrogate’s most talented musicians to provide seasonal entertainment for the thousands of visitors we’re expecting to come to the Christmas Market.
It may be a little early for some people to be talking about Christmas, but as the schools go back, now is the perfect time for young people to think about preparing and practising for their festive performances. We’re offering them a chance to raise their profiles, as well as collect donations from the shoppers they are entertaining.
Over the same weekend as the Christmas Market, Harrogate will host the Country Living Christmas Fair, so the number of visitors to the town is expected to soar. With the official Christmas Lights Switch-On due to take place the week before, Harrogate will be well and truly in the festive spirit.
John Fox, the Chairman of Harrogate at Christmas, said:
The festive season is very important to our town, with many of our retailers relying on the last few weeks of the year for a large proportion of their takings.
Our aim with the Christmas Market and Lights is to bring more people into Harrogate and encourage people to use local shops and businesses. As well as the many visitors we’re expecting, we hope people from across the Harrogate District will come along and show their support.
Any musicians interested in busking during Harrogate Christmas Market should email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. A schedule will be put together to ensure as many musicians as possible can take part, but places will be limited so early booking is recommended.
Meanwhile, any businesses interested in taking a stall at the Christmas Market should also get in touch soon, as the final places are being booked now.
