Lightning fast linen at Knaresborough’s bed race

A Harrogate-based interiors and home-furnishings retailer is throwing down the gauntlet to visitors to this weekend’s Great Knaresborough Bed Race.

The Yorkshire Linen Co is challenging attendees to see how quickly they can put a cover on a double duvet – with the fastest time under one minute winning £250 of gift vouchers to spend at a Yorkshire Linen Co store.

The business – which owns and runs more than 40 stores in the North of England, Spain and Portugal – has come on board as the race’s newest sponsor, which takes place in the market town this Saturday. (June 8)

The company is also taking the opportunity to raise money for its chosen charity of the year, Bliss, which supports premature babies and their families.

Ross Leventhal, Managing Director of The Yorkshire Linen Co, said:

This year is our 20th anniversary, and as such we were looking to sponsor a major, local event.

The Great Knaresborough Bed Race was the perfect fit and we are very much looking forward to being a part of this superb event.

In addition to the teams that are racing beds, we are staging a duvet racing competition, when we challenge visitors to put a cover on a duvet in under a minute.

It sounds easy but I can assure you it isn’t. For the chance of winning £250 of vouchers we are asking everyone who takes part to donate at least £1, which will go towards our target of raising £10,000 for Bliss.

The Yorkshire Linen Co’s duvet race will be taking place in the Conyngham Hall car park from 11am until 4pm.

Everyone who takes part in the challenge will receive a voucher giving 10 per cent discount in The Yorkshire Linen Co’s Harrogate shop and The Darley Mill Centre.
