Police were called today (5 May 2013) at 13:48 following an armed robbery at the One Stop store on Devonshire Place, Harrogate (High Harrogate area).

A man entered the store and threatened staff with a bladed weapon, ordering them to hand over money.

The man escaped on foot with a quantity of cash before making his way along Skipton Road. The shop staff were shaken up by the incident, but physically uninjured.

Police officers have been carrying out searches of the local area to locate the suspect who was wearing a white or grey hoodie and similar coloured tracksuit bottoms. He wore a covering over his face and had his hood up during the robbery.

Detective Sergeant Paul Schofield of Harrogate CID, said:

The shop is on a busy road in a residential area and we expect a number of people to have been around at the time of the robbery. I would like anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the incident or saw a man matching the suspect’s description to contact the police a soon as possible.
