Assault at Prince of Wales public house

PoliceA 31-year-old Harrogate man is currently in police custody following an assault at a public house in the town.

It occurred just after 9pm on Thursday 2 May 2013, outside the Prince of Wales public house, on the High Street, Starbeck.

As a result of the incident a 61-year-old local man suffered a serious head injury and was taken to Leeds General Infirmary, where he currently remains in a critical but stable condition.

The suspect was arrested at 9.45pm in connection with the incident.

Acting Detective Inspector Dave Horne, of Harrogate CID, said:

If you witnessed the assault or saw either of the men involved prior to the incident I need to speak to you as soon as possible and ask that you get in touch.
