Cyclist dies in collision near Pateley Bridge

PolicePolice are appealing for information following a single vehicle fatal road traffic collision near Pateley Bridge.

It occurred at 10.40am on Wednesday 24 April 2013, on the B6265, when a man riding a pedal cycle, heading from Greenhow towards Pateley Bridge, collided with a tree.

As a result of the collision the man suffered serious injuries. Despite the efforts of paramedics from the Great North Air Ambulance, he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are not in a position to give any further details of the man who died at the moment.

The road was closed for approximately two and a half hours following the collision.

Traffic Sergeant Claire Sawyer, of North Yorkshire Police’s Roads Policing Group, said:

If you were on the B6265 around the time of the collision, I urge you to come forward and contact the police as soon as possible.
