Julia Mulligan, Police and Crime Commissioner for North Yorkshire, has today unveiled her new timetable for the appointment of North Yorkshire’s new Chief Constable.

The job advertisement has been placed today (6 March 2013) and a selection process will take place on 16 April 2013.

Julia Mulligan said:

I am confident that the re-running of this process will result in a pool of good candidates. I didn’t make an appointment last month as I wanted to be absolutely sure that I had the best possible choice of candidates for this vital role and I am convinced that this will be the case this time around.

The Commissioner looks forward to being able to announce her preferred candidate for the new Chief on 17 April following which the Police and Crime Panel will need to hold a confirmation hearing before the appointment can be finalised

A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said:

Temporary Chief Constable Tim Madgwick has confirmed he will put himself forward for the Chief Constable role.
