30 December 2012

Harrogate High School set off on its traditional Christmas primary school tour over the weekend to delight seven primary school´s consisting of, New Park, Coppice Valley, Hookstone Chase, Saltergate, Starbeck, Grove Road and Richard Taylor.

The school has in the past only toured the school concert band. However this year they took the junior band, rock choir, jazz band, ukulele band as well as other groups and individual performances.

A highlight of the tour was a rendition of the famous song ´Rehab´ by Amy Winehouse. The song was performed while the pass the parcel was played, and each time the group stopped the lucky primary school student got to rip off the next layer of paper to find a treat within. Jordan Swailes played the drums, Helena Popplewell on Keyboard, Liam Gambles on Bass, Nathan Malton on the Electric Guitar and Chloe Gray provided the vocals. There was also time for the primary schools to get involved some more singing and dancing along to the YMCA!

A primary school parent said to HHS on Twitter:

My daughter still talking about the visit from @HarrogateHigh choir to Coppice Valley Primary, they were AWESOME apparently.

Head of Music at Harrogate High School, Amber Southern said:

40 students took part in the tour showcasing a variety of different groups. They were all fantastic and did themselves proud.
