Fire Service experience busy evening due to flash rainstorm

Fire ServiceThe North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue have experienced a busier than normal evening due to the flash rainstorm earlier (4 Aug 2012)

Fire crews were called to the Main Street in Little Ouseburn at 18:31 with flooding to a domestic garage. They assisted in clearing drains to protect the property

In Grewelthorpe at 19:23 fire crews used a pump to remove 2ft of water from a flooded kitchen.

On the A1, a car aquaplaned and overturned at 19:39 near to the Boroughbridge junction.

In Kirkby Malzeard at 19:43 a light pump used to remove flood water from commercial garage as gullies were blocked.

An Italian restaurant on Station Parade Harrogate at 20:06 requested assistance as guttering was not coping with volume of rain and water was entering the building.

The Masham crew assisted a car trapped in flood water on the Thorpe Road in Masham.

There was a false alarm on the Jennyfields area of Harrogate at 20:43 which was initially thought to be a house fire but was controlled burning.
