Launch of new initiative proves ‘just the business’ for Yorkshire charity

8 May 2012

A Harrogate charity, which has transformed the lives of thousands of unpaid carers, has launched a new initiative to mark the important role played by local businesses in its success.

The Carers’ Resource, with offices in Harrogate and Ripon, unveiled its Keeping Us Company scheme to thank its corporate partners.

The charity’s founder, Anne Smyth, said:

We wouldn’t be able to help so many people, both adults and children, to deal with the day-to-day pressures of being a carer without support from big-hearted local businesses.

They add an extra dimension in a range of ways – from cash donations, to volunteering; from free car parking to their professional expertise – and we wanted to ensure their contribution was recognised.

We pride ourselves on making every Pound we receive go as far as possible – especially against the current backdrop of public sector funding cutbacks. Businesses will play an increasingly-important role in ensuring we continue to meet the growing demand from carers for the services we provide.

This new initiative recognises publicly the contribution that many of our long-standing supporters have made – as well as encourage others to follow in their footsteps.

The launch was a big success – all our guests seemed fired up by the scheme and we were buoyed by witnessing such loyal support for the work we do.
