LEADING North Yorkshire hairdresser Chris Burton is spending six weeks in Australia teaching stylists ‘down under’ how to cut and colour.
The top stylist, who has owned HALO with Joseph for the past five years, will also be travelling to New Zealand to run a training programme for leading hairdressing product company Wella.
The Australian and New Zealand training programme is a great honour for Chris, who originally trained as a hairdresser with Vidal Sassoon.
“I have been running these training workshops and seminars for Wella for the past six years, spending six weeks at a time in Australia and New Zealand,” said Chris.
“It works really well for me as I am able to combine working at HALO in Harrogate with spending two six-week periods abroad working for Wella.
“When I return to Harrogate, I feel I am at my most creative and my sharpest. I have been removed from a salon environment for a number of weeks so when I come back I am fired up with enthusiasm for the job I love,” added Chris.
During Chris’ six-week training programmes, he will be working with both junior and senior stylists, as well as salon managers.
He will be running workshops in each of Australia’s six states, as well as in the North Island of New Zealand.
“Hairdressers in the UK are seen as world leaders – it is a great honour to me that my teaching skills have been recognised and I am invited to return year after year,” said Chris.
Contemporary salon HALO, in Cheltenham Mount, Harrogate, is open six days a week.
