Student Anwar Tagabo added: “We chose the Yorkshire Air Ambulance as it’s a great charity and helps lots of people but it doesn’t get any government funding.”
Foundation students gaining key work skills including business administration, managing money, self management and teamwork have excelled to project manage a fund raising coffee morning for staff and students.
Student baked and decorated a range of cakes offering a trolley service for staff and students looking for a mid morning sugar fix.
Learners presented the cheque to Yorkshire Air Ambulance North Yorkshire Development Officer, Tony Doveston outside the college during a recent visit where Tony told the students about some recent incidents which YAA played a vital role in getting patients quickly to centres of excellent where specialist treatment was available. The students also learnt that if everyone in Yorkshire donated just 50p the money raised would run the air ambulance service for a year.
Yorkshire Air Ambulance Development Officer, Tony Doveston said: “We are delighted the students are prepared to support the work of the air ambulance as every pound we raise is critical to our continued success, we recently celebrated our 10th anniversary and have carried 3,599 injured patients to Yorkshire hospitals.”
