Fire Service experience busy evening due to flash rainstorm

NIK 9046 199x300 Fire Service experience busy evening due to flash rainstorm Main Street Harrogate Fire Service fire The North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue have experienced a busier than normal evening due to the flash rainstorm earlier (4 Aug 2012)

Fire crews were called to the Main Street in Little Ouseburn at 18:31 with flooding to a domestic garage. They assisted in clearing drains to protect the property

In Grewelthorpe at 19:23 fire crews used a pump to remove 2ft of water from a flooded kitchen.

On the A1, a car aquaplaned and overturned at 19:39 near to the Boroughbridge junction.

In Kirkby Malzeard at 19:43 a light pump used to remove flood water from commercial garage as gullies were blocked.

An Italian restaurant on Station Parade Harrogate at 20:06 requested assistance as guttering was not coping with volume of rain and water was entering the building.

The Masham crew assisted a car trapped in flood water on the Thorpe Road in Masham.

There was a false alarm on the Jennyfields area of Harrogate at 20:43 which was initially thought to be a house fire but was controlled burning.
