Holeys chartered accountancy firm celebrate their 65th year

29 November 2018

Holeys chartered accountancy firm and taxation advisors are celebrating their 65th year, making it one of the oldest firms in Harrogate.

The firm has been providing valuable advice since 1953 when Brian Holey set the practice up.

Paul Stephenson the managing Director said:

The age of the firm came to light when interviewing one of our longstanding clients, an 84-year-old who recollected meeting Mr Holey 62 years ago and becoming a client when he acquired his first farm.

The loyalty of clients is part of our success story.  Brian Holey believed that if we look after our clients then they look after us and the firm still maintains this ethos. We have grown by word of mouth and many clients who have moved away from Yorkshire have remained loyal to the firm.

The firm currently has 5 experienced partners; Patricia Durrant who was Brian Holey’s partner from 1984 until he retired in 1999; Paul Stephenson, the firms audit and managing partner, who became a partner in 1999; Bryan Robinson (tax partner) who joined in 2002; Tim Yates who qualified as a Chartered Accountant with the firm and became a partner in 2007 and the most recent new partner Peter Rookes who was made partner in 2017.

Tim said:

Holeys has changed and evolved over the last 65 years and we continue to adapt to offer the very best service to our clients.  Currently we are actively working with clients planning for the arrival of Making Tax Digital for VAT and assisting those clients moving to cloud based accounting systems.  We will be busy over the next two months as the tax return deadline approaches and are always happy to offer free initial meetings to prospective clients.

Holeys are Harrogate’s only member firm of the UK200group, the UK’s leading quality assured members association.

Paul added:

We joined this group 12 years ago because of our confidence in the quality of our working procedures and our wish to maintain this standard.  We remain completely independent but the UK200group membership gives us access to other accountancy and tax specialists around the country and globally.

We’re delighted to be celebrating 65 years of Holeys in Harrogate. I would like to thank all our staff for continuing to provide a superb service to our clients, and to our clients for their continued loyalty.
