Harrogate Lights Up for Hospice Care as Popular Glow Walk Returns

12 June 2026

Saint Michael’s Hospice is delighted to announce the return of its much-loved Glow Walk, as a Moonlight Glow Walk, this year.

Following many years of successful Glow Walks, Saint Michael’s Hospice are bringing back their exciting fundraising event this October, with a new twist. This year, to make the event more inclusive to all age groups, the walk will have an earlier starting time, as well as a shorter route option.

The Moonlight Glow Walk is all things bright and colourful, involving the participants walking through the streets of Harrogate, wearing bright lights, neon clothes, and glow sticks, to raise much-needed funds for Saint Michael’s Hospice.

Every day, Saint Michael’s Hospice provides compassionate and dignified end of life care, helping patients and their families navigate some of the hardest days of their lives. From providing care within patients’ homes and at its in-patient hospice at Crimple House, to supporting loved ones through grief and bereavement, the hospice is there when it matters most.

Every conversation, every visit and every act of care is made possible by the support of the local community, whose generosity helps ensure that no one has to face the end of life or the loss of a loved one alone.

The event will begin at St John Fisher’s Catholic High School, where walkers will gather for some pre-walk entertainment, including a warm-up led by Harrogate Clubbercise instructor, Gilly McBride. There will also be refreshments, stalls, and music before the event begins, where it will be a lively, party-like atmosphere.

The walkers will set off at 7:30pm across the streets of Harrogate, lighting up the night for their local hospice. There will be the option of a 10k or 5k route, and both routes will stop at Crimple House on the journey, to have a moment of remembrance for people who are no longer with us.

Clubbercise instructor Gilly has shared her excitement for this event:

The reason I love this event so much is that it is about people coming together as a community to support an amazing charity.

Saint Michael’s Hospice has helped so many people/families in our local community … it is also so inspiring and beautiful to see so many people come together for such an important cause & every person involved helps make a real difference.

Last year, this event raised £70,000 for hospice care in the Harrogate district, and Saint Michael’s want to make this event bigger, better, and brighter than ever before. Many people will walk in memory of people who are no longer with us, whilst others will walk simply to support their local hospice.

Corporate teams can also get involved, with a variety of options available for sponsorship of the event. Whatever the reason for involvement, everybody is welcome to join in on the exciting and high-energy event.
