Barrow 0 -1 Harrogate Town

3 March 2021

A late goal from sub, Jack Muldoon, gave Harrogate Town a 1-0 win over Barrow, enabling them to complete a double over the Cumbrians.

Town made two changes from Saturday’s victory over Grimsby, with Mark Beck replacing Aaron Martin and Warren Burrell took over in central defence from Connor Hall who is suffering from an hamstring injury.

Although Town made a bright start with Josh McPake worrying the Bluebird’s defence with some dazzling dribbling,it was Barrow who had the first real chance.

A low cross from Brad Barry found Scott Quigley in space, but his shot flashed just wide of James Belshaw’s post,

Soon afterwards,Town almost took the lead in bizarre fashion when Josh March charged down Joel Dixon’s attempted clearance and the ball rebounded onto the roof of the net.

As half time approached,Quigley forced Belshaw to save at the foot of the post, while at the other end McPake’s powerful drive was blocked by Dixon.

The second half continued in the same vein with both sides unable to strike the vital blow and the game looked destined for a goalless draw.

However,as on Saturday,Town’s substitutes made the breakthrough.

Josh Falkingham caught Barrow on the break when his through ball released Muldoon on goal and he drove into the corner of the net to seal Town’s victory in the 84th minute.

This win elevated Town into eleventh place in the table, putting them within striking distance of the play off places.
