The calm before the storm at Rudding Park

in Harrogate/Sport

Rudding Park is celebrating after having been selected as one of only three golf clubs in England to host The Mini Storm Trophy Series for boys and girls aged 7-10. Sponsored by Hellens Group, the first competition of the series will take place at Rudding Park on Saturday 20 April 2019.

Multiple European Tour winner and former England and European Boys’ Champion at all ages, Graeme Storm, founded the Mini Storm Trophy in 2018 and this year sees the expansion of the into a Series with a Mini Order of Merit. Graeme will be hosting the at Rudding Park and is looking forward to meeting all of the keen golfers who have entered.

Each of the 3 venues – Rudding Park, Consett and District Golf Club and The Wynyard Club, will play host to a 9 hole Gross Competition played over a shortened course with medals and prizes for boys and girls aged 7-10 in their individual categories. Entry fees are donated to the Percy Hedley Foundation which provides a wide range of high quality, specialist and personalised care and educational support to disabled people and their families.

Since becoming a Golf Foundation Ambassador in 2018 Graeme is keen to promote golf to all ages and abilities. We will be running free TRI-GOLF sessions from 12 noon on the day and would like to encourage families to come along. Tri-Golf is a FUN, energetic version of golf which young children can enjoy as they hit the target with their first ever golf shot. Tri-Golf is genuinely
inclusive as it suits all abilities; every child can succeed in the games and with the flexibility between individual play and team interaction, it engages well with youngsters who might not want to play a traditional team sport.

James King Rudding Park Golf Manager said:

We are excited to have been selected to host the first Mini Storm Trophy Series. At Rudding Park we are keen to develop the Juniors and this is a fantastic opportunity to showcase golf to the next generation and a great opportunity to get those new to golf involved with a free Tri-Golf session.
