Roots and Fruits, on King Edwards Drive, have been “Best Specialist Retailer” for North Yorkshire, part of the English Business 2019

Julia Corbett and Jim Sore took over the business following many successful yearsbeing run by Sarah and Julian Butler.

Julia said:

We have been informed that we have recently been awarded ‘Best Specialist Retailer’ for North Yorkshire.

It was part of the English Business 2019. We have now been entered into the Grand Finale.

Julia says they have worked hard to make the business a part of the community and that have strong engagement on Facebook helped them gain the win.

They have also worked to reduce waste, being able to buy as much as you want, the use of paper bags rather than plastic. Food needs to be eaten soon is donated to the Resurrected Bites café or to a local chicken keeper gets anything left over.

They also source locally, where possible and encourage people to eat in-season produce.
