HOPEWALK at Swinsty Reservoir in Memory of Dom Sowa

27 October 2018

People came together this morning in memory of Dom Sowa.

HOPEWALK is a month of walks taking place across the UK in October in support of Papyrus, a national charity dedicated to the prevention of young suicide.

Dom was a pupil at Harrogate Grammar School and died last year due to suicide associated with mental health problems.

Friends, family and people who just wanted to show support, walked the 3-mile route around Swinsty Reservoir

Pat Sowa said:

It’s a year this week since Dom died and in that year the whole community from Harrogate Grammar and Harrogate have been right behind us. It has really helped us through the most difficult year of our lives.

And today to have everyone with us on the HOPEWALK is another reminder that people are still with us and also an opportunity to talk about suicide and how important it is to help young people and support them with charities like Papyrus.
