Sing Gin Wins Two Silver Medals in the International Wine and Spirit Competition 2018

20 August 2018

Sing Gin  have won two Silver medals in the London Dry Gin and Gin & Tonic categories at the International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC) 2018.

Founded in 1969, the IWSC is considered to be the most prestigious competition of its kind in the world.

The awards given by the Competition are believed to be among some of the highest honours in the industry. Judging for the Competition is unique in that it has two stages; first, the products are tasted blind by expert panels, selected from over 400 fully experienced and qualified industry judges. Products which receive the top medals are then subject to technical analysis before results are released; this crucial stage ensures winners receive complete validation.

There are few gins crafted from the grape, and Sing Gin is Yorkshire’s first. Inspired by their home county’s breath-taking natural beauty, Sing Gin captures the spirit of the Yorkshire Dales in mood, method, ingredients and flavour.

Grape, used in juniper spirits back in the 1300’s, gives our gin a silky smooth finish that blends beautifully with our seven hand-crushed botanicals including mint, orange peel and flax, a historic Yorkshire crop.

The award-winning result is a gin of rare and tantalising freshness with distinct floral undertones. And being a proud Yorkshire gin-making family, they named it after Kettlesing, near Harrogate, the village where they live. Sing Gin is best served with Mediterranean tonic and garnished with an orange twist or sprig of mint.

Sing Gin’s Richard Thompson had this to say about the awards

We are absolutely delighted to win these two highly sought after medals from the International Wine and Spirit Competition 2018. One of our aims is to put grape-based spirits on the map and we are hoping that with the backing of these prestigious silver medals, we will be able to do so.
