Fire ravages disused building in Starbeck, Harrogate

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue are currently dealing with a fire in a disused building on the High Street of Starbeck, Harrogate – 2pm on 3 July 2018.

The building was previously used as a McColl’s food store, but had been disused for some time. It was initally tackled by Fire Fighters entering the building, but they then withdraw to protect their own safety. It was then tackled by multipled hoses and the aerial lader platform – roofing and window boardings were removed.

Flames could be seen coming from the roof and there has been smoke emanating from the rear of the building. An additional crew were tackling the fire from the property rear.

The route through Starbeck has been closed.

The fire service have said that they believe it is now under control.
