McCormicks helps Harrogate Town to go full time

Leading Yorkshire Sports Law firm McCormicks Solicitors has been instructed to help Harrogate Town AFC work through contractual matters and other technical aspects as it strives to move to a full-time basis next season.

The practice has in-depth expertise in football, with Senior Partner Peter McCormick as Chairman of the Football Board and the Legal Advisory Board of the Premier League, as well as holding a number of roles for the FA, including as Chairman of the International Committee.

McCormicks, based in Harrogate, also has a long-standing relationship and is an Associate Sponsor of Harrogate Town, which is one of a growing band of non-League clubs turning professional to attract and retain key players to help its quest to achieve future success.

McCormicks’ Employment Law specialist Sara Morgan and Corporate Partner Lewis Goodwin are working with Harrogate Town to draw up the new contracts which will see the players become full time employees from the 17/18 season.

Lewis Goodwin said: We are used to advising organisations such as the Premier League and the Ryman League but it was particularly enjoyable to be involved in such an exciting project for a football club in our own home town!
