St Aidan’s School tennis team reach the Northern finals

The St Aidan’s Tennis Team have had a fantastic season this year where they reached the North of Great Britain finals on Friday, 18 November 2016.

Oliver Boyes-Park, Joe Cawcutt, Jack Hanson and James Hanson qualified from the area tournament as winners and went on to win three qualifying rounds in the North Great Britain knockout stages in order to qualify for the finals last week.

On the day, St Aidan’s were drawn against the second seed in the competition, Holmfirth High School and they narrowly missed out on qualifying for the final on a tie break set after drawing the match 3-3.

This result meant that St Aidan’s were to battle for 3rd place against QEGS Penrith and they won this game 5-1. St Aidan’s performances resulted in them finishing 3rd in the North of Great Britain and within the top 12 schools in the country.
