Unusual finds at fifth annual Harrogate Christmas Market

30 October 2016

Visitors to Harrogate Christmas Market will be spoilt for choice this year, with new and unusual traders among the popular stalls returning again.

Perfect Personalised Gifts had one of its products, a hexagonal cheeseboard, shortlisted for wedding gift of the year by Not On The High Street.

Owners Kathryn Wright and Harrogate-born Andrew Firth return to the town for their first stall at Harrogate Christmas Market.

Andrew said:

It’s fantastic to be in Harrogate, meeting local people and visitors and showing them some new ideas for their Christmas gifts.

We’re really excited about the market this year. We have lots of unique products and we can provide a very quick turnaround for buyers at the event.

Products available include personalised hampers of gin, wine and beer, Christmas Eve boxes, Santa keys, baubles, and cheeseboards.

Meanwhile, artist Kate Webley is swapping one unusual setting for another: usually based on a 28-foot narrowboat known as The Pod Floating Studio Gallery, she will this year be selling her hand-made fused glass from the Craft & Gift Marquee on site.

Kate said:

All my work is made aboard the ‘pod’ and I’m geared towards the northern market after moving to a mooring on the Chesterfield Canal.

I take inspiration from the canals and their surroundings, and I love sharing those experiences through my art. I’ll have everything from glass plates and candleholders to jewellery and sculptures, and I also take commissions for bespoke pieces.

Perfect Personalised Gifts and The Pod Floating Studio Gallery will be just two of almost 200 traders taking part in this year’s Harrogate Christmas Market, which runs from Thursday, 17 November 2016 to Sunday, 20 November 2016. About two-thirds of the traders have been before but the rest will be new to Harrogate, ensuring a wide variety of gifts for all family members – and their pets!

The four-day event will have its ever-popular mix of home-made and hand-crafted goods not usually available on the high street, along with Yorkshire-produced food and drink, live music from local ‘buskers’, children’s funfair rides and Santa in his grotto with real reindeer outside.
