Two dozen leading state and independent schools simultaneously hold open days in same venue

20 September 2016

A major event in Harrogate next weekend (Saturday, 1 October 2016) will make the life of parents a little easier with a host of leading state and independent schools joining forces to hold their “open days” in the same venue.

More than two dozen schools from across the north of England, and beyond, will be represented at free-to-attend Future Schools Fair, which will also feature a series of seminars led by educational experts and academics.

Topics under discussion include preparing for entrance exams, what’s the best age to move schools and single-sex vs co-education.

Schools that are exhibiting at the fair – being held from 9am-4pm on Saturday, 1 October 2016 at The Pavilions, Harrogate – include Harrogate Grammar School, Sedbergh, Ashville College, Grammar School at Leeds, St Peter’s York, Ripon Grammar School, Wakefield Grammar School Foundation and Rossall School.

And to keep the children – and parents – entertained, Matthew Wilcock, who won the TV series “Great Pottery Throw Down 2015”, will be bringing his wheel and demonstrating the talents which led to him securing the title.

Events director Claire Wise said:

We are delighted to be bringing the Future Schools Fair to Harrogate, and it is the first time a mass ‘open day’, aimed at parents of children in Years 5, 6 and 7, as well as those looking for sixth form places, has been held in the north of England.

For every parent the education of their children is of paramount importance and choosing the right school can be a very daunting and stressful time.

The Future Schools Fair is bringing together two dozen top quality schools, from the state and independent sectors at the same time and under the same roof. This will massively help parents beginning the process of narrowing down their choice of which senior schools to apply for.

Parents attending the Future Schools Fair will save time, get independent advice and be able to explore with not just one, but 24 different schools.

When not talking to the various schools, parents can attend a number of seminars led by experts in the field of education. All in all it’s an event that parents across the region can’t afford to miss.
