26 August 2016

A cash prize is on offer to individuals or teams who work in community health and social care services in North Yorkshire and York and demonstrate excellent infection prevention and control (IPC) practice.

The North Yorkshire and York Community IPC Champion Award 2016 comes with a £100 cash prize and is run by Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust’s Community Infection Prevention and Control team.

The award aims to celebrate and share how IPC practices across the county have been proactively improved. Staff entering must work within a health and social care setting in North Yorkshire. They can nominate themselves, a team or another individual.

Entries may typically be about GP practices, care home, domiciliary care services or hospices. They need to describe in 250-300 words how they, a team or an individual have improved Infection Prevention and Control in their place of work

The deadline for entries is 30 September 2016, with the winners notified by the end of October 2016.

The Community Infection Prevention and Control Team is a dynamic and innovative team with vast experience of working with staff in the health and social care sector. It supports organisations such as care homes, GP practices and dental clinics to ensure compliance with the Health and Social Care Act 2008 as well as Care Quality Commission compliance. Further details about how they provide support can be found on its website: www.infectionpreventioncontrol.co.uk

Kath Banfield, Community Matron for Infection Prevention and Control, said:

We are very excited to be offering this £100 prize and recognising the high standards of infection control in organisations across the county.

We work with many organisations in North Yorkshire and we know that there are many fantastic examples of infection control by organisations that put patients and service users at the heart of what they do.

Our aim as a team is to promote evidence based practice and reduce the risk of healthcare associated infection. We have tailor-made materials for a range of health and social care settings and we’re always happy to speak with people who would appreciate extra support so they meet their regulatory requirements.
