Appeal for witnesses following alleged assault of 12-year-old girl in Harrogate

North Yorkshire Police is appealing for information and witnesses to come forward following an alleged assault of a 12-year-old girl in Harrogate.

The incident took place at around  21:00 hours on the evening of Sunday 7 August 2016 on the B6161 (Oaker Bank) near to The Old Spring Well Public House.

The incident involved an alleged assault of a 12-year-old girl by a group of 4 similarly aged girls on the roadside.

Police are particularly interested in speaking to a woman who stopped at the scene. She is described as white, in her fifties, with dark brown, bobbed hair, glasses. She was driving a red car and stopped to check on the well-being of the victim – police believe that she may be a vital witness to the incident itself.
