13 June 2016

Tim Smith from Harrogate is taking part in the Yukon River Quest on 29 June 2016 – one of the top 10 toughest races in the world.

Tim works for Burdens, which is part of Wolseley UK, Britain’s leading distributor of heating, plumbing and construction products, and will join 15 of his colleagues in the world’s longest annual canoe and kayak race. He is also one of two team leaders in the quest.

The event is held annually in the Yukon Province of North West Canada and is a 444 mile non-stop, five day race which is guaranteed to test even the most seasoned of athletes.

The team are aiming to raise £100,000 for Cancer Research UK and complete the race in just 50 hours.

Tim said:

It’s going to be a tough challenge but definitely an experience of a lifetime. It’s heartening to see so many people come together from across the organisation to support us. It’s a challenge that will push the teams to physical and mental limits and beyond but it’s all for a worthy cause. Cancer Research UK is a charity that supports many people across the UK and I’d encourage anyone from across the area to support our quest for such a worthy cause.
