CCTV appeal after ring stolen from York jeweller

Police want to speak to a man pictured by CCTV in connection with the theft of a £5,700 ring from a jewellery shop in York.

A man was seen looking at the window display outside the shop on High Ousegate before entering the store and asking to look at a ring. When the sales assistant handed it over he bolted, still clutching the jewellery.

He ran towards Ouse Bridge before turning down the steps beside the Slug & Lettuce bar and on to King’s Snaith. The man was last seen turning left into Lower Friargate.

The incident happened at 1.05pm on Friday, 5 February 2016.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 and ask for Ian O’Grady.
