All are welcome to the first ever outdoor music festival at the BWMC

27 August 2015

This Saturday (29 August 2015), Bilton Working Men’s Club are staging their first ever outdoor music festival – the imaginatively-titled Biltonbury!

This is a family-oriented day with not only 4 live music acts but several children’s rides, bouncy castles, and face-painting. Catering is provided by the award-winning Deano’s Graze and Grill so expect some great burgers and other tasty treats. There will also be an ice-cream van on site to keep everyone happy.

Alan Huddart, Club Treasurer, said:

The Club is recognised as being a strong supporter of local music and we wanted to showcase not only the Club, but some of the amazing musical talent that is on our own doorstep.

The recent Fake Festival was popular but all the main acts were from outside the area and the tickets weren’t exactly affordable for a family so we’ve put together a great schedule of acts and laid on what we think will be a great day.

With Children under 16 being allowed in free it means a family of four can enjoy the day for only £10! The prices are even lower for Club members.

We really hope the local community support our little festival and that everyone has a great day.

If you want to know a little about each act performing at Biltonbury, here’s a mini-summary:

Lucky Boy Browne – a four piece band originally formed in Leeds and now making their third appearance at BWMC. Guitar and lead vocals are provided by Nadeem Leigh who appeared on BBC1’s “The Voice” and progressed to the live sing-offs. Expect some original material and some covers from the likes of Paul Weller, Bob Marley and U2

Beth McCarthy – Beth is from York and is making her BWMC debut on Saturday! Like Nadeem, she also appeared on The Voice and got through to the same stage. Beth has some great original songs and some amazing covers with her own twists – expect Dolly Parton, Annie Lennox and Lorde (I think her cover of Royals is better than the original!)

The MG Band – a seven piece reggae and ska band but with a twist. Several twists in fact, and some nuts! Lead by Matt Goldberg there is a brass section to spice things up – expect high volume! The guys write some of their own material and on the bill you can expect covers from The Specials, Bob Marley and New Order. There may also be a cover of Oops Upside Your Head in a reggae style so depending how much we’ve had to drink we can probably do the actions so brush up on them!

MFOR – Headlining are MFOR (it stands for money for old rope if you didn’t know!). This is a popular local band who are no strangers to Bilton WMC and their craft is rock covers – and plenty of them. You can probably bank on some AC/DC, Killers, Iron Maiden, Kings of Leon and possibly even some A-Ha! Whatever they end up playing, you’ll know them all and singing along and dancing in the car park is compulsory!
