Harrogate van driver in critical condition following collision

Harrogate Police are asking for witnesses to a collision that happened near Harrogate on at 5.30pm on Monday 20 July 2015,

During the incident a white Vauxhall Astra van and a silver Ford Focus collided on the A658 between the two junction for North Rigton.

The van, which had ‘Future Builds’ written on the side was travelling towards Huby. The car was travelling in the opposite direction, towards Harrogate.

The driver of the van was a 39-year-old local man and suffered serious injuries in the incident. He was initially taken to Harrogate Hospital for treatment and later transferred to Leeds General Infirmary. His condition is described as critical.

The driver of the Ford Focus, a 60-year-old woman from the Harrogate area, was left shocked but unhurt by the collision.

Officers are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either vehicle prior to the incident to come forward with information.

It has been reported that the van may have overtaken a number of other vehicles prior to the collision and officers would like to speak to anyone who remembers being passed by it.
