Police pelted with stones as they attend Harrogate incident

Police have been pelted with stones as they attended an incident in the Broadacres area of Harrogate (12 July 2015 at around 7pm)

An investigation is now under-way  following an altercation between two men on Fairfax Avenue. It resulted in one of them, a man in his 20’s to early 30’s, being run down on an area of grassland opposite the Fairfax Community Centre.

The silver coloured vehicle involved has since been recovered and the injured man is now at Harrogate Hospital. His injuries are described as minor back injuries.

Police are are now looking for the driver of the silver vehicle.

There was not a stabbing, although this is being rumoured on social media.

The police were pelted with stones by local youths. This forced the police to deploy a far bigger response with many officers talking to local people and a number of police vehicles patrolling a wider area. Working on the main incident were traffic officers, CSI and collision investigators. The main incident was cordoned off and around 10 officers were on foot managing what was a potentially volatile situation.
