Health and Safety trainer risking it all for charity

4 July 2015

Vice President of Harrogate Chamber of Trade and Commerce Steve Pepper has found an unusual way of raising funds for his favourite charity the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

He’s doing this by taking a diminutive “Monkey Bike” some 300 miles round Yorkshire taking in some of the steepest hills on the way. Steve will start his challenge today (4 July 2015) and it will continue the weekend.

The charity doesn’t receive any public funding and it’s only by people raising funds who can help to keep the air ambulance going.

There is no such thing as a totally risk free environment and you can’t wrap people up in cotton wool.

Sure these bikes are capable of speeds up to 100kph but it’s simply a matter of taking the right precautions and I’ll be wearing full face helmet, boots, protective gloves jacket and trousers.

We’re trying to raise enough money to keep the two air ambulances running for a full day, which is quite expensive. The best way to support this cause is by going online and making a donation, however small.
