Passengers on Transdev buses across Yorkshire no longer need to hunt around for change in the mornings now that the bus operator has introduced a totally new way for customers to buy tickets and pay for their bus travel – on their smartphone!
Mobile tickets, or M-tickets, provide a more convenient way for passengers to purchase tickets from their smartphones in advance, whenever and wherever they are.
A full range of 1-day, 1-week and 4-week M-tickets can be bought on the Transdev Yorkshire M-ticket app and stored on their phone.
The user then simply activates the M-ticket when required and shows it to the driver when boarding the bus – App, Tap & Go!
The app is available to download for iPhone and Android smartphones free of charge from the Apple App Store and Google Play.
Richard Jackson, Transdev’s Development Director, said: We’ve introduced M-tickets across our Yorkshire network to offer a more convenient service to our customers.
We appreciate that it’s not always possible to have the right change when catching a bus – now you don’t need to!
Buying tickets with a mobile phone will also mean our passengers can board the bus more quickly – all they have to do is show their M-ticket to the driver.
This will certainly help us to make our services more efficient and get our passengers where they need to be on time.
We hope that the investment and development of this new technology will encourage more people to travel by bus.
Customers will be able to pay for their M-tickets by registering a debit or credit card.
They will also be able to pay using Barclays Pingit, giving Transdev passengers the means to use their mobile phones to make instant payments for their bus tickets without the need to enter large amounts of personal details with every transaction.
Using Barclays Pingit offers Transdev’s customers, whether they have a Barclays account or not, the reassurance of their payments being processed by a leading, well established global bank.
It’s a fast and easy payment method with clear and immediate confirmation. With a secure 5-digit passcode entry system, the app is completely secure – in fact, it was the winner of a Which? Consumer award for app security.
Eimear O’Connor, Head of Corporate Mobile Payments at Barclays, said: Transdev recognise the importance of offering their customers seamless mobile payment solutions.
Consumers today want quick and easy ways to pay, that are both convenient and secure.
Through our partnership with mobile payments developer Corethree, we’re able to offer Transdev passengers just that when they pay with Pingit.
