Knaresborough road closed after car collides with bus

At about 11:55pm on Saturday 25October 2014 a road traffic collision occurred on Knaresborough Road in Harrogate, close to its junction with Newham Street.

The collision involved a blue Peugeot 106 and a black and red service bus. The bus was travelling from Harrogate towards Knaresborough and the Peugeot was travelling towards Harrogate.

At the time of the incident the bus was carrying a number of passenger. Fortunately none of the passengers were injured.

As a result of the incident the driver of the bus a 53 year old man from Harrogate received minor injuries and was treated at hospital and later released.

The driver of the Peugeot was also taken to hospital with minor injuries and released a short time later. The driver of the Peugeot, a 35 year old female from the Harrogate area, was subsequently arrested in relation to the incident and remains in police custody.

Shortly before this incident the Peugeot had been involved in an incident and was sighted by Police on Grove Road, Harrogate. The Peugeot reversed into a stationary police vehicle on Grove Road before making off towards Knaresborough Road.

The road was closed in both directions for several hours whilst police investigated the scene.
