Six vehicle collision on A59 near York

Harrogate PoliceNorth Yorkshire were called at around 7.45am on Tuesday 16 July 2013 after reports of a road traffic collision on the A59.

The collision involving six vehicles, two Toyota Yaris’, a Kia Sportage, a Ford Fiesta, a Kia Pro Cee’d and a Vauxhall Corsa, occurred at Green Hammerton.

The road was blocked in both directions as a result of the collision, however traffic is now flowing freely.

Fire crews from Acomb, and Tadcaster were sent to the scene where they used cutting gear in order to release a woman from her vehicle.

The drivers of the Kia Pro Cee’d and one of the Yaris’ were taken to District Hospital suffering from minor injuries.
