Saltergate Business Park near Harrogate becomes home for pet businesses

21 February 2013

Saltergate Business Park near Harrogate (on Burley Bank road off the A59) is set to become a hub for pet-based businesses after another unit was leased – this time to a dog grooming and day care business.

Following the arrival of Petsperfect.co.uk in early 2012, a leading online pet accessory business, Pretty Paws has also made Saltergate its home.

Pretty Paws, which provides full grooming services and a dog day care centre run, is run by Amy Heptonstall. Amy studied animal management at Askham Bryan College in York before setting up the business seven years ago.

The company has taken Unit 2 at the site, which is managed by Paul Beckett at the Leeds office of national property consultant Carter Jonas.

Amy Heptonstall said:

Pretty Paws has grown massively over the last few years, to the point where we decided about a year ago to bring the grooming and pet day care offerings under one roof. Although planning permission was a tough hurdle to get through, Paul Beckett at Carter Jonas helped us with any queries the Council had, and we’ve finally moved in.

On a day to day basis dogs tend to arrive between 8am and 9.30am and leave after 4pm. The day care room is divided into sections and the dogs grouped with their best friends, toys and activities as well as still having a walk. We can’t wait to take new customers on for the days care and I’m now taking on a few more grooming customers which is fantastic. We are excited to work next door to Petsperfect.co.uk, they have so many great products I have to keep myself away!

Sophie Knox, owner of Petsperfect.co.uk, said:

Petsperfect.co.uk has been on this business site for nearly a year and it’s great! Plenty of parking for people to come and collect orders and it is near to both the town and the country and anything that needs doing gets done in double-quick time. It is wonderful that Pretty Paws has moved in next door.

Saltergate Business Park provides a mixture of warehouse and light industrial units three miles west of Harrogate. Current tenants on the park include Little Red Bus, Cornering force and Tetley’s Electrical Contractors.

Paul Beckett of Carter Jonas commented:

Saltergate is an attractive business park for many North Yorkshire businesses due to its rural location and excellent transport links. We’re delighted to welcome Pretty Paws as the latest resident at the park and having both Sophie and Amy working closely is great to see having both transformed their units internally.
